Note: The USS Missouri BB-63 is currently residing at the Bremerton Navel Shipyards in Bremerton, Washington. There is an effort to have the ship moved to Pearl Harbor.
Captain’s Personal Log - Stardate 50440.6: The crew of the Missouri has been on extended shoreleave on Earth while fate the Missouri is being decided by Starfleet command. The damage was extensive. After the Missouri arrived at Starbase four-five-two. It was discovered that two of the computer cores were completely destroyed by plasma surges through the subspace field surrounding the cores. The saucer section will have to be replaced. Most of the load bearing struts need to repaired or replaced. Some of the crew has requested temporary assignments in the fleet. They could not sit still while their brothers and sisters were dying at the hands of the Dominion. All such requests were granted except for senior staff members. If the word comes down that either the Missouri is being repaired or Starfleet is scrapping her and we get a new ship, the crew will be recalled.. I have been in meetings with Admiral Cochrane at the San Francisco Shipyards. He was surprised we were able to achieve warp speed at all much less warp four for three days. The last meeting was three weeks ago. I have been to Melora’s home in Hawaii. It is truly a beautiful island. We are becoming very close, but after what happened to Dina on Risa, I am still reluctant to let go of all my feelings. We are preparing to go to my parent’s home in Scotland. It is the first time I have been home in years. We will be stopping in San Francisco to see if any word has come down yet on the Missouri.
Duncan tossed the Padd into his suitcase and closed it. Melora came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. “Do you want to go to the beach before we leave?” She asked. She was really enjoying herself. She loved the beach, the water, the surf. Duncan had to admit he was taken by the beauty of the scenery and her.
Duncan looked at the chronometer on the desk. Their shuttle left in one hour. “I’m sorry, Melora. We really don’t have time. The shuttle leaves for San Francisco in an hour. Tell you what,” He smiled. “You go on, I’ll finish packing and I’ll come get you in half an hour.” He said kissing her again.
She smiled and slipped into the bathroom. She came out a minute later looking beautiful in a purple two piece bathing suit. She gave him a little kiss and tied a sheer skirt around her waist as she bounded out the door. Duncan turned around and looked out the window. He watched the waves roll in and crash on the sand. Ten minutes later their bags were packed. He ordered a large glass of Pineapple juice from the replicator and he went out on the balcony. He really enjoyed Pineapple juice. It was something he hadn’t tried until Melora persuaded him to. He could see into the Pearl Harbor Navel Museum from their room. There in the distance he could the floating museum they visited a couple of days ago. He remembered the sense awe he felt as they walked up to the gangplank of the massive ship tied to the pier, the irony as he saw the name, U.S.S. Missouri. BB-63. He only hoped that his USS Missouri would end up as a museum in the future and not scrapped as parts for newer starships. Duncan put his empty glass on the table. He grabbed the bags a went down to the front desk.
Melora was walking back to the hotel as Duncan walked out the old-fashioned revolving door. He waved her over. Duncan handed her a small bag. “What’s this?” She asked.
“It’s just a shirt to throw on, you know how cold those shuttles can be sometimes.”
“Thank you.” She said pulling the tropical print shirt out and putting on. She tied the bottom. “Ok, let’s go.” They stepped into the hotel transporter and a few seconds later materialized in the shuttle port.
