Captain’s Log, Stardate 50376.7 ~ After the incident in the Gamma Organa System, the Missouri was at Starbase 452 for two weeks. The delay was caused by difficulties in synchronizing the warp nacelles. The work is completed now and we are on patrol along the Cardassian/Federation border. It has been quiet for the past couple of days. We had a Jem’Hadar fighter on long range sensors thirty six hours ago. We have not seen any other ships since. The crew is beginning to get tense waiting for something, anything to happen. This kind of situation makes me nervous. People get tired and are bound to make mistakes when they are under this kind of stress for extended lengths of time.

Duncan closed the monitor on his desk and stepped out of his ready room, onto the bridge. It was alpha shift - ship’s morning. Kern got up out of the center seat and announced. “Captain’s on the bridge.”

“Thank you, XO. Anything to report this morning?”

“No Sir.”

“Another routine day, huh?” Duncan said with a smile.

Just then the bridge rocked underneath them and the lights went out. The lights came back on a few seconds later. “Report.”

T’Gerran said. “One Jem’Hadar warship came out of the Furfaro Nebula. The nebula obscured our sensors. We didn’t even see it until after it fired on us.” The bridge rocked again as if the Jem’Hadar knew they were talking about them and didn’t like it.

“T’Gerran, lock phasers on that ship and return fire.”

“Aye, Sir.” Phasers shot out of the saucer and found their mark.. The ship exploded.

“Helm, Get us out of here before any of their friends show up. Course two-five-three mark four-seven-two. Warp six. Engage.”

Kelley input the new course. The Missouri went to warp leaving the debris of the destroyed Jem’Hadar ship behind. The course took the Missouri right through the Furfaro Nebula. Solak said. “Sir, the nebula we just passed through contained a high concentration of Tachyon particles. The particles are reacting with the poleron radiation from the Jem’Hadar beams that had charged our warp nacelles.”

“What’s your point, Mr. Solak?” MacDermott asked impatiently.

“There is a theory that such a combination could form an artificial wormhole.”

At that instant the viewscreen filled with light. Multicolor streamers of energy swirled around the ship. It appeared as if the ship had entered a tunnel of gaudy neon lights. The ship buffeted and rocked beneath them. “Mr. Solak, I do believe your theory about the wormhole is correct.” The Captain said trying to keep his seat.

“Yes Sir.” Solak said his knuckes white from gripping the console.

As suddenly as this wild ride started it stopped. The Missouri was drifting in normal space. “Where are we, Mr. Kelley?”

“Unknown Sir.” He replied. “Long range sensors are off-line. Warp drive is off-line also.”

“Well, we’ll just sit here until we figure out exactly where we are.
